The people behind the high street

The high street has a massive impact on people's lives, whether we talk about the clothing sold there or the closing of a shop. To showcase its importance, I decided to do a series of images showing the people behind the high street, those who work in the retail industry. The best location to prove the impact of change is the former Topshop building on Oxford Street, which was closed last year.

I tried to represent the people in an authentic yet ironic way. I love to work with contrasts and word play and approached each project according to the individual's feelings and view of the place they work for.

To me, the high street is vibrant, fun, but also cosy and familiar. I took these images to reflect the energy of the high street. I also wanted to bring out its beauty by saturating the colours.
